In a world where technology is so prominent, I am looking to use educational sharing technology – a document computer with a projector – to project and demonstrate concepts and ideas, and work collaboratively with my classes. The document computer and projector will be particularly helpful for the visual learners in my classes. With the document computer and projector, we can project and interact with videos, books, maps, images, and their work to facilitate shared learning and discussion. Like most kids, they are accustomed to seeing and using technology in their everyday lives. Having a document camera and projector in our class will allow me to efficiently model instruction whether it is how to annotate a text, or model a writing lesson. For social studies, we can share news reports we create, zoom in on an explorer’s route on a map, and examine artifacts more closely. With this technology my students can help with instruction by teaching concepts to their peers, which is an important learning tactic, since we know that students retain more information when they teach it to others.
