These books will exponentially increase reading engagement in my classroom. The diverse protagonists in many of these books will increase the self confidence and engagement of my students that are from underrepresented populations. The studies on the correlation between representation and confidence speak for themselves! Not only will these books increase confidence in students of minorities, these books will also bring our classroom up to date with books as many of the books provided are not copyrighted within the last decade. These books will help to keep students reading about current topics. It will help to foster a love of reading and a love of learning.
