Recess is a time for students to interact with their peers. One key way to do this is by promoting active fun play that is healthy, that fosters equal opportunity for all children to explore their imaginations, connect with other people and grow physically, emotionally, and socially. With a wide range of equipment to fit all needs of the our students from grades prek-5, this can be accomplished. With that being said, our students need multiple opportunities to engage in organized, fun activities that promote physical, emotional, and social healthy play. Through healthy, fun, organized, active play, it builds a culture of play that enables kids to feel a real sense of belonging. By allowing students to play in a more organized, fun, recess, it allows staff to engage with students both physically and socially. This in turn, helps with transition, lowers bullying, helps for all students to be included and reduces the amount of aggressive behavior. That is why we need help in funding for equipment that promotes healthy active play for all.
