The Times for Kids subscription will be used during our literacy centers, in our classroom we use the Daily 5 reading strategies for students to become strong readers - these Daily 5 tasks are listening to reading, reading to someone, read to self, work on writing, and word work . This magazine will be an option for students to read to each other during read to someone and then discuss the topic of the article with some guiding questions. I strive to bring in current events in our classroom in order for my students to become critical thinkers of the world. My hope is that students will broaden their perspectives about the world around them and learn to embrace differences. Times for Kids will provide us the resources for us to talk about current events at an age appropriate level for my students and gives access for all of my students to read current events.
