Students will develop reading comprehension and discussion skills by participating in an online after-school book club on Zoom co-hosted by a reading specialist and an English teacher. The books read in our book club are "Project Lit" selections. Project Lit is a national movement whose goal is to encourage young adults to read culturally relevant and timely books that spark discussion and raise awareness about current issues in our society. Our book club encourages independent reading and community building. The book club meetings are structured and develop questioning skills and reading strategies in an engaging and fun format. Parents, students, faculty/staff members, and administrators are all invited to participate. It is a community-building project!
