Our students are experiencing some events that have a global, national, and local impact. Some of these events include a global pandemic with COVID-19, issues with justice and an upcoming Presidential election. Access to these materials will help students process these various issues in an age-appropriate way. Students will be able to utilize these materials at home as an additional resource for independent reading and to support classroom content. These magazine issues will aid in my goal to create a print rich environment with a variety of literature beyond picture books. Students will be able to read nonfictional texts tailored to their reading level. This will allow them to stay informed on current events and communicate their thoughts, feelings and opinions in classroom discussions with their peers.
