Art class is an increasingly important class for middle school students. It gives students the opportunity to show creativity, develop motor skills, and use risk-taking and inventiveness skills. It teaches about color, layout, perspective, and balance. These are all techniques needed for academic work as well as the real world. Our students have already created projects with watercolor over crayon drawings, tessellations, and paper mosaics that used basic materials like crayons and markers. Having these materials would allow the students in art class to expand on the artistic abilities in new mediums and additional realms as well as to continue to make their art unique and interesting.
