The other day, I asked my students about my classroom. More specifically, about the physical environment itself. I told them to be brutally honest, and tell me what they saw as a uninviting, or needing updated. And they didn't hold back. The students pointed out that the classroom was cold and uncomfortable, and lacking a collaborative working space; they weren't wrong. So, I sat down with my students, and asked them what would improve my classroom to make it a more desirable learning environment. A seating area for collaborative work was their top choice. As I work to update my classroom, I realized that it will be a step-by-step process. My students chose this as the first priority that needed to be addressed!
