Our goal is to provide our teachers with the tools they need to create a calming corner. Calming corners are a place that students can use to breath and regroup when they are feeling anxious. Students think better when they have a clear and calm mind and body; however, students often feel anxiety and get frustrated. Calming corners support social emotional learning and provide activities for breathing and focus. Students set a timer and engage for a brief period of time in an activity before returning to their normal class activities. These "time ins" are important to the development of elementary students and their focus on academic growth.
