The students who first come into my class are eager to learn and become part of the class. They can fell overwhelmed when it comes time for independent reading and they need to read on their own. Our library has very few books for them. It makes them happy and more relaxed to have a break and be able to read in their own language. Just imagine having to only read, speak and listen in a totally different language everyday for 7 hours a day. It can be stressful and tiring. I want students to feel welcome and relaxed, they do better that way and enjoy coming to class and learning. They feel welcome and like they are understood. Like we care.
