This trip to NASA / Kennedy Space Center in Florida would mean so much to my Aerospace Engineering students. I have juniors who have just started our 2 year program of study and I also have seniors who are in their last year of the program. Both groups of students can benefit greatly from this experience. By touring the Kennedy Space Center, my students will experience learning at a new level. They will be able to not only meet an astronaut in person, but ask him or her questions and hear about first hand experiences. My students will be able to see, hear, and even feel a live rocket launch! My students work hard everyday to learn aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering concepts. They have been learning about the engineering design process and actually putting it into practice. They work collaboratively on aerospace design projects to solve real-world problems. This may be a once in a lifetime experience for them. The enthusiasm and work ethic that my students display every day is one of the reasons I come to class with a smile on, EVERY day! I am excited and passionate about what I am teaching and my students are teaching me new things as well. These teenagers exemplify the personality traits of being respectful, having integrity and being a hard worker is all about. My students may come from low-to-middle socioeconomic backgrounds, but they are not letting that define who they are or want to be. I am proud to be their teacher. I am proud to know them as human beings. They are our future.
