The Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts is putting on a great TCTELA conference this year in Frisco, Texas. This will be my third year in attendance and every year has brought valuable opportunities for growth in my instruction. There are multiple sessions that provide me with new and exciting areas of research and resources. Specifically, I'm looking forward to sessions like Teaching Social and Emotional Skills through Literature with Carol Jago, a Friday Luncheon with one of my favorite YA authors, Laurie Halse Anderson, and The Essential Moves of Academic Reading and Writing with Jim Burke. I believe these opportunities will provide me with resources to maintain a positive classroom climate and greatly increase my content knowledge in my subject area. Every year I walk away feeling reinvigorated and more prepared to serve my students. I can't wait to see what this year has in store.
