This project on mindfulness will help my students focus on paying attention to the present moment using their senses to observe what is happening right now. Students will be asked to think about somethings that happened in the past as well as something right now. Some prompting questions might be: "What happened before school? What did you eat for breakfast?" Students will be asked to think about what might happen in the future. Some prompting questions might be: "What happens after school? What happens next in our school day?" Students will be asked to pay attention to what is happening in the present, Some helpful questions might be: "What is happening right now? How can you tell?" Students will be prompted to think about their five senses, and review them briefly as needed. Students will be asked to describe what they hear, see, taste, smell, or are touching right now. The yoga mats, bowl, and chimes in this project will assist in this lesson. Students will be taught how to be mindful of their feelings.
