I am requesting equipment which will help our students participate in Adapted Physical Education. Many of our students have very limited motor movement and games are adapted using pulleys for participation. We recently developed a corn hole game using a pulley. The student just had to let go of the string attached to the bean bag and it would go in the target.
My students also enjoy riding adaptive bikes at our school. We have different types of bikes. I thought this one would be good because it needs minimal movement to move for the student to be successful.
We have many students that enjoy sensory balls or toys that will fill their sensory needs when they come to A.P.E. They get a chance at the end of our lesson to choose something they like and most times it is either a bike or ball.
I also feel that giving them the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike, play with a ball and/or learn a game will transfer into their daily lives. It gives the student a chance to be familiar with lifetime skills and activities they can enjoy with their families and friends.
