These materials will make a major difference in my students' learning! As a first year teacher, I have noticed that many of my students learn math best when they can see, touch, and manipulate something to help them understand the concept. As 6th graders, students are introduced to a lot of new concepts, these manipulatives help them to conceptualize new math problems and equations that they have never seen before. This also helps them to connect the material with something tangible, which makes the lessons stick in the students' minds. Students should understand the why of math, not just the how.
