I think having books more representative of my diverse group of students and their experiences will encourage them to read more and become lovers of literature. Many of these books look like they would definitely speak to my students and for the students who don't look like the characters in the book, maybe it will give them a different and more open-minded perspective on those who are different from them. I think that all of my students could benefit from these books regardless of ethnicity or religion, and I generally let students borrow books from my library to take home and finish reading.
