I want to take my inner city, low income students into the mountains, right in our own backyards, to learn the joys of fishing and conservation. We will learn how to tie flies together during our after-school club. We will then take several springtime trips into the mountains near Denver to catch fish on the artistic flies they craft on their own. The patience and focus required to successfully tie a fly are critical skills and habits our students need to develop in order to be more successful students and good citizens. The joy and sense of achievement our students will gain by catching and releasing a fish they entice with their own artistic creation will be a memory they will keep for a lifetime.

About my class
