I teach reading intervention at the high school level. I provide tickets for participation, reading aloud, collaboration, and being kind - these tickets can be traded for snacks - as most of my students are always hungry. Students can also trade tickets for "free" days where we play games together. Students are receptive and eager to earn tickets. Incentives are a great way of helping students put forth the effort to expand their skills & learn new skills. My students need options when it comes to being present and being able to concentrate on daily lessons. Supplies such as different seating options are essential in allowing students to be able to move and be active while learning. Other supplies such as pencils and highlighters are always needed in my reading classroom as there are never allowable excuses for not participating in daily learning.
