My project includes a class set of novels so each student can hold a book in their hands as we read it together as a class. This gives students the opportunity to connect with their peers. The book I have selected is recommended by the Project Lit Community, which is a national, grassroots LITeracy movement, a network of dedicated teachers and students who are committed to increasing access to culturally relevant books and promoting a love of reading in our schools and communities. My goal as an educator is not just to foster a love of reading, but to increase my students' access to high quality and culturally relevant books. All students deserve to see themselves in the pages of a story.

About my class
