My students have reading challenges. They struggle with foundational skills that is learned in early elementary. I need tools and resources that will keep their interest so they will not get bored and lose their motivation to learn to read fluently. A few students suffer with Attention Deficit Disorder and Emotional Disability. Their behavior affects learning and others in the classroom. My students take a special interest in current events and I feel they will limit off-task behaviors when we are reading using Scholastic readers. These items will be used to help eliminate distractions caused by students who are challenged to remain focused. I will be able to teach a lesson with the students complete attention and without many distractions, because of the colorful pictures and activities associated with Scholastic Readers.
