This year is stated to be one of the coldest winters in a long time and there are scholars that do not have sufficient outerwear. The items in my basket will go to help scholars that need appropriate outerwear to get through the winter. Last year teachers purchased several coats for scholars needing coats to get through the winter. Most of our scholars are from low-income households where parents have to choose what is most important, and what can wait a little longer. Just this morning, in November, there were kids walking off the bus with blankets wrapped around them. Last year, we could not reach every family. For this year, we are using Donors Choose to expand the number of kids we can support in having a cozy winter.
