CeCe Rios is a captivatimg story featuring a young LatinX female heroine. A majority of my students are LatinX. My hope is that when students read this book and see a person of color as the lead they can imagine their own stories and will ask to read other books that have lead characters of color. By reading this book my students will increase their reading comprehension, cultural competency, vocabulary and reading speed. We will work to create our own souls of the desert through an art project, and students will write a narrative based on the fantastical world that CeCe Rios lives in.
