These books can be used school wide for small group literacy instruction and read alouds for multiple grade levels for years to come. The 5th graders would like the opportunity to participate in a reading challenge called Battle of the Books. These books would initially benefit the 5th graders who are willing to take on the challenge and read these books to participate in the competition with other schools in our surrounding area. Students would work together in small groups reading the same book so they can develop their 21st century skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing about a common text. Not only do we get to work on our reading comprehension but we get to practice good sportsmanship and teamwork too. Please consider helping us out!
