Throughout the school year, students at our charter school will learn drums, keyboard, guitar, and ukulele. With these ukuleles they will learn fundamentals such as chord progressions, rhythms, and simple melodies. They also learn about standard notation and other applicable music theory. In the spring, the students form their own bands and create songs together to perform at the spring concert. As a possible technological extension to the unit, we have plans to make a music video of the best song. Maybe you'll see these kids in a viral YouTube video one day soon!
