Many of the students in my first grade class do not have regular access to books in their homes. As a first year teacher, I have only a limited selection of books in my classroom library. In order for students to develop a love for reading, I need to provide many more books for the students to explore. Books are fundamental for education. I will use books across all content areas. They are a great tool to use in any subject to get students to become better readers and writers. Books can help get students about any topic! I will use these books to draw connections to students school and home lives and help them create longer lasting learning experiences.
