My class sizes are fairly large (about 25-45 students each). I teach some of the top performing 7th and 8th grade math-students in the state. Most of my students desire to have a STEM career, so the ability to use Basic and TI-30XA calculators to quickly check the accuracy of their answers during class and testing will build their confidence and desire to achieve. These basic and scientific calculators will support student's shown work accuracy, rather than relying on the slow pace of computation. These supplies will positively impact the learning environment for the students by increasing their desire to be successful when they take advanced classes and when they achieve their goals of STEM careers. My students and I will be able to get through lessons, in-class activities, and the school year successfully and efficiently. I expect to see improvement in the accuracy of their computations and their confidence in themselves when doing math.
