I work with children in BCPS. It is well documented that many people in the city have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. As a therapist in the city, we are expected to do the work of healing, but we are not given the resources to do so. A big part of the healing process is providing a safe physical space, which in turn becomes a safe emotional space. That is hard to do in an institution with cinder block walls and an uninspired color scheme. I work hard to make my space feel comfortable and safe for everyone who enters, and that can be an expensive undertaking, so I thank you for any help you can provide! The requested items would help make my space feel therapeutic. It will become a space where the children can feel safe, both emotionally and physically. It will become a calming space where the children can decompress, relax, and become more mindful.
