Your gift will help fund dinner for groups of students interested in staying after school to attend readings from local writers at the Schaumburg Center in Harlem. The Schaumburg Center is a NY Public Library in Harlem devoted to black history. Many students live in the neighborhood and attend school just a couple of blocks away, but have never been to an event at the Center. In writing class, we will be offering several after school trips for students to readings of the Harlem Writer's Guild, an organization of talented local writers. The purpose of these trips is to introduce students to writer's who look like them and inspire them to continue to hone their craft as writers.
