My students need to write code and program robots to run autonomously. To do this, they need to constantly edit and revise the code and run updates on the software that runs the code. Our district issued school laptops have strong firewalls that do not allow my students to run updates necessary to run the software needed for coding. My students need a laptop that allows them to install robotics software and run frequent updates to the program without running into barriers that exist with school issued computers. Additionally, a laptop will allow them to make onsite changes to the code during off campus competitions increasing the robot's accuracy and helping them win robotics challenges. These experiences will help empower my students in engineering, helping them use science and math to make our world a better place in the future.
