I am presenting this project to help improve my classroom culture by having more materials for the students to use. The current library that exists in my class is small and not very diverse. This being my first year of teaching means that I have very limited materials for my students. If my class got this project funded we could increase our day to day instruction and reading time. My students love to read and have already gone through all of the books that I could provide for them. The books requested, along with the other writing and literacy materials, will excite them to want to read more in their down time. The writing materials will aide in boosting my students ability to write. I have some that struggle to want to write, so having these fun prompts will help them I hope! They will also be a nice mix up with our regular writing curriculum.
