Many of our students do not get a chance to be exposed to things outside of their immediate area. Reading diverse texts provides that outlet . . . that necessary experience . . . the chance to be a part of a different world. Our 8th grade ELA Unit requires that the students read several novels. At current, we do not have enough to go around in the classroom. Therefore, the students share novels and miss the opportunity for independent reading and analysis of the texts. These additional novels would allow us to have at least a classroom set that the students could use. Each student would have their own copy in the classroom. Your help is greatly appreciated!
