I am constantly seeking ways to connect with my students. I want them to read books that resonate. Books that mirror challenges they’ve experienced. Books that teach them how to handle struggles, adversity, and hardship. Unfortunately, to stay relevant, purchasing these amazing new young adult books costs money. It is more important than ever that our students see themselves in the characters presented to them: diverse, or various faiths, cultures, and experiences. The classics are there for a reason, and they are wonderful. However, I want my students to gain the social- emotional healthy that I believe can come from reading stories of others who have overcome obstacles. Help me do this!
