For so long primary grade students have been forced to fill a hole in which they just don't fit. The age group in which first graders fall have had more and more play taken away through many years of misunderstood intentions. Research has shown that students learn skills and executive functioning through play. In an age of technology that can provide all that is needed, I intend to bring play back to my classroom. I want use the requested materials to give students a chance to simply be kids. For so long we have required so much of primary grade students to do things that they are not ready to do. With these materials we will build communication, self-regulation and cognitive flexibility. The power of playing is so important and I would love to provide that opportunity to my students.
