The COVID-19 pandemic impacted our students' literacy skills and their social-emotional skills. The aim of this project is to provide engaging books at a range of reading levels in order to support standard CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.10, "By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range." Additionally, the books selected are filled with diverse characters working through complex emotions. Having students experience new perspectives through reading will support their social-emotional growth.

About my class
