Students use technology to conduct research, to create modern projects (such as making their own websites), and to complete tests in my history classroom. In a twenty-first century classroom, having consistent access to technology is key to success. Students learn skills that they will be able to apply moving forward. They learn how to parse through information online and how to identify credible sources. Taking tests online allows students to get immediate results and feedback and allows me to better analyze student learning because I get real time updates on how each student did on each question. It also allows my English learners to take advantage of the Google Translate add-on during tests to translate the questions so that I am able to test them on their knowledge of history.
