These Sharpies will allow the students to work on their emotional reflection journals to build their toolbox of coping skills. Emotional journaling allows the students to express themselves in creative ways that are not destructive. Sharpies are the best medium to use because they create rich colors and allow the students to work with materials that real artists would use in a journal application. My students with emotional and behavioral disabilities can learn to express themselves through the use of emotional reflection journaling. These materials will allow them the chance to reflect on past trauma and current triggers in order to process their emotions in an effective way.
