The classroom has changed drastically since I was a child and one of the largest changes is the teacher's role. Today, teachers are less lecturer and more facilitator, and that means walking among the tables, sitting with the students during work time, and helping them to learn on their own. Currently I find myself at the board like my old teachers way too often. That means that I am the focus on the classroom instead of the students. This also means that I have my back to my students during lessons which means I cannot monitor behavior the way I would like. I am asking for an iPad so that I can display a lesson via an Apple TV to my front board. This allows me to move about the classroom while still "writing" on the front board; this allows me be with my students as they learn and grow; and most importantly, this allows my students to be the focus of the classroom, not me.
