My students in my Biology, AP biology, and Botany classes have a variety of learning styles and needs. By giving hands-on manipulatives like clay and poster paper, terms and concepts can be easily understood. My classes are responsible for putting in and maintaining a garden and wildlife habitat area. Using many methods to help the students understand biology in a much deeper way. When the students better understand the concepts, they will be able to apply what they have learned to become self-sufficient in life, which is the purpose of the cultivators and the trowels as well as garden gloves. These simple tools are a way to activate the students' interests and obtain a much deeper level of understanding in biological studies as well as teach the students how to be self-sustaining by growing and cultivating their own food.
