My students are in a program to earn high school credit in the 8th grade. Each of them have faced academic and personal challenges that have put them behind in school. Our program offers students hope by giving them individualized courses where they can work at their own pace. This project will help my students be more engaged in their learning as well as take ownership of their equipment by keeping it clean and safe. For our students, having their own set of headphones will remove distractions that negatively impact their learning. Sometimes our class set of headphones don't work or there are not enough effective headphones for everyone to use. With everyone working on different course material, extra noise can be a huge distraction. In our class we also work on positive character traits, such as taking responsibility for your actions and your personal items. If all fifty of our students had their own set of headphones and a safe place to store them, they would have an opportunity to practice responsibility. Often our students come without backpacks or supplies at all, so having a set of headphones they can call their own would make a big impact. Thank you for supporting the learning of our students!
