Our rural District is very fortunate to have obtained a class set of Chromebooks for my class. I would like to have headphones for my students to listen to audio segments of curriculum resources. We have found appropriate podcasts, read aloud stories and videos that align perfectly with our standards. As it stands now, we have to review all these materials only once and as a whole class. Many times, students that finish early want to go back and revisit these resources after we have reviewed them in class. The audio portions sometimes prevent me from allowing the students to do just that for fear of disrupting another student. With headphones, individual students can have the option to listen at their own pace and as often as they like. With the headphones, many of the assignments could be done on an individual pace. The addition of these headphones in our class will assist students to not only achieve at a higher level, but make learning more fun. In addition to the resources in the classroom, students visit a keyboarding class. In that class, students work on a website that has multiple audio sounds that reward the students for correctly progressing to the next level. The students love these audio sounds, but they are distracting to the others. These headphones would allow students to participate and enjoy the keyboarding app on a much deeper basis.
