Expanding our classroom library is so important because students need to see their own reflection in the books that they read as well as the experiences, thoughts and cultures of other community members. To build an inclusive community, we need to also have inclusive texts that amplify and celebrate all different types of people, cultures, and experiences. These books will allow us to have important conversations. Students will have access to these books to browse and read during our day. We will use them as read-a-loud and focal points in discussions pinpointing social-emotional health and well-being. These books will help motivate my students to dive into these literary windows and hopefully drive a love of reading.
