Exploration and number sense are huge aspects of the learning in my math classes. With the help of several different types of math manipulatives, my students will be able to clearly represent the different operations that they are performing and improve their understanding. Every student's mind works in different ways, so having many ways to represent and explain your thinking are essential to developing a deeper understanding in math. By donating to my project, you will be helping each and every one of my students develop independence and problem solving skills in math. With tools like place value chips, number line task cards, and other number pieces, students will be able to physically show how they are regrouping division problems, adding and subtracting decimal values, or any other operation that they might come across in fifth grade!
