My students are awesome kids that come from Thailand, Korea, Bosnia, Burma, Mexico and from the United States. Many from out of the country come over by way of Catholic Charities from refugee camps in hopes of a better life. They live in the same section 8 apartments as the American kids. The American kids come to school in hopes of obtaining a better life too. All are looking for a life where they don't have to worry about adult problems: clothing, food, shelter. Having money to keep electricity and water on, keep from losing their car and many times their apartment. Our students have been known to move 4 - 5 times a year, live in their car or live with relatives around the town. The only consistency in their lives is our school. Again, they are great kids with meager means but great personalities. They always have a smile, laugh and a hug for their school family.
