My classroom contains a wide variety of students, all at extremely different levels of learning. Children, with differing levels of development and comprehension, need access to multiple materials to fit their learning style--maximizing their development. Coming into my first year of teaching, I lack the storage needed to hold the extent of the materials I need to maximize my students' stimulation. Independence in action, and freedom to choose, fosters growth and development--I want my students to have the ability to choose the supplies that work bests for them, boosting their creativity and development during work-time. With continued encouragement, I have noticed a significant increase in student choice--not only in preferential seating, but the materials they choose to work with as well. The implementation of this new storage unit would allow me to continually encourage and enhance this positive behavior. I will be allowing choice. Choice in materials and a continued sense of independence, as it will be available to them at all times. The number requested allows the much needed space to organize all of the new BRIDGES math supplies, as well as provide various STEAM materials for the students.
