...Nor Any A Drop to Drink! My school population comes from every corner of the Earth, and it's shameful that in NYC we aren't providing consistent, clean, refreshing water. We have one selectively functioning water fountain in the school cafeteria, but our students prefer to share water (yuck!) or dehydrate than drink water from it when it's functional. We need a filtered water cooler to stay hydrated- a basic human need that we are responsible for providing. The NYC DOE provides reusable water bottles- let's get them filled! Our eco-conscious students would prefer not to contribute to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but sometimes bottled water is the best we can do.
