Students rarely spend time with their families these days. Having events at the school where families can spend time in a safe place is of paramount importance to us. Spending time knitting scarves with their families helps students to connect on a deeper level, adds life-changing confidence because they made something for themselves, and last but not least, they have something to keep them warm! In addition, working with yarn helps students with fine-motor coordination. These skills help with their schooling because it reinforces their ability to use hand-eye coordination. These skills strengthen handwriting, cutting, drawing, and coloring. Later on, these skills translate to working in STEM-related careers and endeavors like architecture, surgery, and mechanical engineering. They will be able to use fine motor skills to focus on small machinery and equipment.
