The materials I selected are designed to assist me and the students with organization. As a science and special education teacher who modifies for students performing within a range of grade levels in the areas of math, writing and reading, it is essential that I and they be able to locate the appropriate materials each day. The folder bins will provide me easy, recognizable access to 7 different levels of modification for each chapter. The students will use the other bins to independently retrieve worksheets, study aids, and vocabulary created for their level of need. The post it labels will allow me to help students mark the exact page in a text or packet that is for homework so they can turn to it with ease and reduce frustration at home. The full size post its will be used for the students who forget their assignment book and need to have the homework written and placed on the material they will need to complete the activity. The translator device is essential to the success of two of my students this year. I have two students who love science, but unfortunately, because they have limited English vocabulary, they are missing valuable content. This interferes with their comprehension of the material. The larger problem is that one of these students wants to be a doctor and the other an engineer. My fear for them is that they will struggle greatly with content because of their language barrier, and it may affect their career goals and dreams. The translator will allow me to effectively communicate with these students as well as allow their peers to communicate with them in small groups. Thank you for your consideration.
