Research states that students learn better when they are comfortable. The majority of the students are not comfortable at a traditional desk and chair. My students will greatly benefit from having various seating options in the classroom. With flexible seating, students will be able to work independently in their seat choice. Not only will flexible seating encourage learning independence, it will also allow students to take ownership of their learning style and decisions. Bean bag chairs are a perfect fit for a flexible seating classroom. Students are more focused when sitting on a sofa or lounging on a bean bag. My students will maximize reading when they are in a more relaxing environment. Students can focus on learning however they are most comfortable.
