My district has chosen to do 100% online learning for the foreseeable future, with the hope of returning to in-person in the near future. In this COVID world and with online learning, it's even more crucial that my students have their individual basic bag of rhythm manipulatives and music instruments to create music, learn to read music (music literacy), create rhythms; and more importantly to sing and play ALL kinds of music - at home (online learning) and in their grade level classroom. Due to no longer being able to safely share materials. these individual bags will also support them to meet or exceed the district music standards and grade-level expectations/skills, I will be expected to tailor my instruction around. These individual bags o' rhythm manipulatives and music instruments will create a more equitable, supportive, inclusive type of learning environment; and if we are able to return to a blended learning environment, my students will be able to bring them to school and have them at home when we are online. These individual bags of rhythm instruments and music manipulatives will give my students the opportunity to experience the true joy of creating and performing music while having fun. These individual bags will give my students the opportunity to be successful and because they have their own bag of basic rhythm instruments and manipulatives; something they can take pride and ownership in. These bags will provide the basic materials my students will need to create wonderful and beautiful music individually, in a small group and make positive musical contributions in a whole group setting while feeling a sense of pride and success!
