Research shows that the most successful students are active readers. In order for a child to make the gains that are needed, they must spend quality time in books that interest them. My goal as a language arts and literacy teacher is to put engaging books into my students' hands and give them time to read and discuss those books. In my classroom, books are organized by genre to allow students to navigate with ease to find that perfect book. Shelving is very important with this organizational system. Having this shelving would allow me to continue adding high-interest books to my library while keeping those books organized for my students. Keeping a classroom library organized, with new, exciting titles, and easy access will add to my students' excitement about reading.
